Mood: Just Chillin Dude
1st July 2010
Windsurfing: Ynyslas
Wind Direction: S
Wind Stength: 20-30 knots
Surf / Sea State: 3-4 foot surf
Air Temperature: 20ºC
Sea Temperature: 15ºC
Weather: Cloudy
Max Speed: 25 knots (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 19.1 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Just lovely. With the wind being southerly and therefore likely to be gusty I rigged bigger than I thought I needed with a 5.6m and my biggest board (S-Type 104). The smaller board would have been more fun in the waves, but I didn't fancy sinking in the impact zone and in the end the bigger board was a good choice.

There were a few lulls on the inside and I was glad of the extra volume during these, but out the back I was maxed out and could easily have got a way with a 5m and smaller board. The wind was gusting to 30 knots and there was a 3-4 foot swell resulting in some big 6-8 foot steep faces out the back. Heading to those flat out on a big, fast board can only lead to one thing, BIG air, and plenty of it.

There were a couple of people out on kites and one other guy windsurfing, but he was struggling with the waves most of the time.

All in all a good sail and fun to be out in waves with some proper wind too.
